Espadrilles Make A Mad Comeback

Espadrilles, the shoe that comes from Spain and made with a Mediterranean grass which is used in making rope. Kinda crazy right? I would imagine when they were first made in Spain back in the 14th century, how uncomfortable they must have been. The wiry grass, itching your feet? But lucky for us, times have changed and so have espadrilles. I remember my mom having a pair and wanting a pair myself, so as I got older, I did. So now the trend is back and I love it, take a look at some of my favorite pairs:

Vogue Fashion Festival 2014

For those lucky enough to attend the Vogue Festival 2014 are about to experience something amazing. This is the 3rd annual festival that Vogue UK has put on and this year in will be held in conjunction with Harrods. Last years festival had a pretty great line up that had interviews and discussions with various fashion icons such as Victoria Beckham, Donatella Versace, Michael Kors, Paul Smith, Mario Testino, Vivienne Westwood, Alber Elbaz, Alexa Chung and Cara Delevingne.

This years line up is sure to be just a good starting with personal style sessions with Alexa Chung, Amanda Harlech and Lucinda Chambers. For shoe lovers alike, we get the best of both worlds with great shoe designer Manolo Blahnik, Tory Burch, and Angela Missoni discuss their lives and careers. But, what I love to see is the Valentino interview! What joy that would be.

Is Cara Delevingne Over Exposed?

For those of us who make fashion a part of our daily lives, we’re constantly watching online media and fashion magazines to see who is who and which models are the most sought after. For the past several years, there has been one particular model who has slowly climbed ladder as the leading model for most of the luxury brands and her name is Cara Delevingne.

The 21 yr old has made her mark on the fashion industry starting in 2011 when she was featured in the Burberry spring/summer 2011  campaign and later being named the face of  Burberry’s spring/summer 2012 campaign. It seems as though you can’t flip through any publication or online publication without seeing her face. She’s walked the runway for designers such as Fendi, Moschino, Dolce and Gabbana and has become the muse for Karl Lagerfeld. With all of the fame as being Britain’s most successful model and most of all the leading lady for runway shows for Chanel. The question I ask is, how did this happen? With the modeling industry full of aspiring models who work just as hard and yes, those who have been modeling quite a bit longer as Delevingne don’t quite get as much exposure and create such a media frenzy when they grace the runways of such designers as Mr. Lagerfeld? What is it about Cara Delevingne that makes designers covet her for their campaigns? Is it her trademark eyebrows? Is it the fact that her Godfather is Nicholas Coleridge, president of Vogue’s publishing house Condé Nast International? Or is it just her luck?

Take Mulberry for instance, they just launched a new campaign with Miss Delevingne and named a bag after her.  I’m taking it as the fact that she can make any brand that taps her as the face of their campaign a large sum of money. But what happens when fame goes to such a young girls head? She’s known as the party girl when she’s not gracing the covers of media publications, taking in at least 2 parties a night. At such a young age, it must be discerning for anyone in her circle to see her overworked and it seems to me to be a young girl spiraling out of control. In addition to modeling, she’s starting an acting career as well. She had a small role in the 2012 film Anna Karenina.  So, with all that said, is the Cara Delevingne bubble about to burst? Is it too much overkill? I’m betting I’m not the only one who is asking the same question.
